Venues ready for SEA Games in Myanmar

Sports venues are ready to be used for the 27th Southeast Asian Games to be hosted by Myanmar in December this year, organizers said.
Wunna Theikdi and Zeyathiri Stadiums, the main venues for the SEA Games, have been built on grand scale with modernized designs.
The sports complexes have been constituted with gymnasiums, 3,000-seat stadiums and swimming pools for the swimming and diving events.
The event will be joined by over 5,900 athletes from 11 countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam, as well as host Myanmar.
The Sports Village comprising hostels for accommodations, venues for sports trainings and other facilities have been built in Nay Pyi Taw for accommodation of athletes and coaches.
It is facilitated with training grounds, money exchangers, entertainment centers, mess hall and worship venues, comprising offices for SEA Games, international Olympic committee offices, media centers, flag mall and management offices for the athletes.
The facility is located beside Pyinmana-Taungnyo Road and Wunna Theikdi Stadium where the opening and closing ceremonies for the SEA games will be held.
The opening ceremony will showcase Myanmar's traditional culture, said the organizers.
Although the SEA Games will officially open on Dec. 11, some sports competition kick off on Dec.1. The competitions will take place in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, and Ngwehsaung beach.
Women's football tournament will be held in Mandalay and sailing event in Ngwehsaung, Yangon will host men's soccer matches, hockey, shooting, weightlifting and Kampo events. The remaining events will be organized in Nay Pyi Taw.
The SEA Games have been held every two years since 1959. Myanmar hosted the event in 1961 and 1969.
